english text THE PLATforMUSIC The project developed by group 5 during week 8 &
9 in ROCK IT workshop, was framed with music, creating PlatforMusic,
a building based on Giuseppe Pagano’s architectural
building Idroscalo. Firstly, speaking about urban analysis of Pavia, it
was considered who is going to be the target group of the new project,
concluding with having several universities and huge amount of students. Idroscalo can be reached by different ways and on a
radius of 1, 5 km by walking, bus or cycling an easy way to get to the
building. Also, taking into consideration musical places, both outdoor and
indoor for young and aged people, it has been discovered as a lack of places
having live, young and traditional music, outside and inside integrating
performances. Taking into consideration all the urban analysis and wonderful
river flow and view it was decided to have a flow of music with people to
something more creative and artistic. So, this is the whole path of how Idroscalo turned into PLATforMusic. PLATforMusic is supposed to be a music hall combining both
indoor and outdoor activities, as well as music for young and old people, connecting
it with the river flow and a city. The building is connected to the platforms,
where the name of the building is coming from and focuses. Starting with the
welcoming static platform, which connects with the city and taking people to
foyer of the music hall, continues with 3 other platforms inside of the
building and proposed outside wooden platform on the other side of the
building on the river level, serving for an outdoor landscape platform. More flexible ones represent the
interior of the three platforms. The first one is a sloped
platform – the upper part of platform is static, the lower half being able to
turn into two terraces for DJ performance. The second interior platform is a
Parterre Platform – works for both: as a parterre for philharmonic and
dancing platform, due to the system of automatic movable seating that can be
stored under the floor. And the final internal platform, which is stage
platform – the real core of PlatforMusic, is a
movable stage able to be used for both inside and outside, having the
musician’s facilities above it. The concept of the PlatforMusic
is building on the old platform of Idroscalo. In an instable building, have been
searched for a new balance for music,
building up 5 platforms in total. The hall can be very
flexible and especially creating 4 scenarios that are following: (Scenario A)
Traditional Concert inside the building, (Scenario B) using the removable
seats in the second interior platform creating a pit for Rock Concert auditorium,
(Scenario C) DJ Set where part of the interior platform becomes DJ’s stage
and another half an auditorium for listeners and dancing pit, (Scenario D) Outdoor
Concert where in summer the outdoor platform can be freely used. Finally, the PLATforMusic meant
to be a place where music stays alive all over the year and keeps the soul
filled with happiness and fullness of the beauty of the river view and flow,
and life in general. |

text THE PLATforMUSIC Il progetto
sviluppato dal Gruppo 5 durante il workshop ROCK IT si incentra sulla musica,
PLATforMusic è un nuovo posto per la musica in Pavia,
situato sopra la vecchia piattaforma dell’Idroscalo di Giuseppe Pagano. Per
prima cosa sono stati scelti i giovani come i principali utenti di PLATforMusic, essendo Pavia un grande campus universitario.
L’ Idroscalo è raggiungibile facilmente sia tramite mezzi pubblici che a
piedi, infatti in un raggio massimo di 1,5 Km di distanza dall’area si trovano
tutti I principali collegi, sedi universitarie, ecc. Tenendo poi in
considerazione i luoghi già esistenti per la musica, sia all’aperto che all’interno,
sia musica tradizionale che musica più giovane, è risultata una carenza di
luoghi per la musica live nella città di Pavia. E’ stato quindi
deciso di cercare in PLATforMusic un nuovo
equilibrio fra musica tradizionale e nuova, fra musica live all’esterno e
non. L’area dell’Idroscalo è stata connessa con I luoghi della musica di
Pavia con un flusso immaginario, un flusso di musica e persone, che si conclude
in PLATforMusic, un edificio che sembra quasi stia
per cadere nel flusso del fiume Ticino. PLATforMusic è un sistema di cinque nuove piattaforme che si
appoggiano a quella esistente di Pagano. Per prima si
incontra WELCOME PLATFORM, che connette PLATforMusic
con Pavia e svolge anche il ruolo di foyer per l’auditorium, in una scatola
più interna si trovano poi altre tre piattaforme. C’è poi SLOPED PLATFORM,
una piattaforma che può essere una semplice gradinata per una sala concerti o
può trasformarsi in parte in un palco per DJ, sotto di questa si trovano I
servizi fissi dell’edificio, I bagni e il bar. La terza è PARTERRE PLATFORM,
che assolve due funzioni, sia platea per un auditorium tradizionale che sala
da ballo, grazie a un sistema di sedute a scomparsa nel pavimento. L’ultima
delle piattaforme interne è STAGE PLATFORM, il vero cuore musicale di PLATforMusic, un palco che può essere sfruttato sia per
concerti all’interno sia per concerti all’esterno, sopra e a lato di questa
sono situati i servizi necessari agli spettacoli (camerini, ecc…). L’ultima è
LANDSCAPE PLATFORM, esterna, statica, al livello dell’attuale riva del fiume,
è un posto utilizzabile durante tutto il giorno e sfruttabile in determinate
occasioni per ballare in concerti estivi sulle note della musica proveniente
dalla sovrastante STAGE PLATFORM. PLATforMusic è uno spazio
molto flessibile, i possibili scenari sono 4 : (SCENARIO A) Concerto
Tradizionale dentro l’edificio, con posti a sedere in tutta la sala; (SCENARIO
B) Concerto Rock, trasformando PARTERRE PLATF. In una sala da ballo; (SCENARIO
C) DJ Set, dove parte della SLOPED PLATF. diventa un palco per DJ e l’altra
metà dell’auditorium è completamente aperta; (SCENARIO D) Musica all’Aperto,
durante l’estate LANDSCAPE PLATFORM può essere usata liberamente. PLATforMusic vuole cercare di
essere uno spazio nuovo, giovane e flessibile, un edificio “sbilanciato”, che
cerca però invece di trovare un nuovo equilibrio fra diverse tipologie di
performance musicali. |
