ROCK -IT is a design workshop which takes place
February 17 to 28 in Pavia on the theme of reuse of "Idroscalo" of Pavia,
designed in 1924 by Giuseppe Pagano and now in
bad state of preservation. The workshop is organized by Prof. Carlo Berizzi of the Master Degree in Building Engeneering and Architecture of University of Pavia and
funded by the Lifelong Learning Programme of the European project. Students
and teachers from Pavia and Bologna ( Italy ) , Portsmouth (England) , A
Coruna (Spain) , Horsens (Denmark) and Opole (Poland) will participate. Students,
gathered in 6 mixed groups and coordinated by the tutor, are called to
rethink the seaplane as a new collective place for the city of Pavia, strengthening
relations with the physical landscape of Ticino and the historic city, and
cultural ones through the identification of its new use in relation to the
existing context . The issue of re-use of modern heritage is at the center of the contemporary architectural debate due to
his particulary vulnerability linked to the
construction tecniques, the specifity
of the functions, and lacking a specific theory of action; the reuse of
modern buildings will be the topic of the next Biennale of Architecture in
Venice . The worshop ends with a public presentation of projects and
an exhibition that will be open Friday, February 28th at 15.00 at the Faculty
of Engineering. During the workshop teachers representing six european delegations held a series of lectures on the
specific topic of reuse open to all according to the schedule of the workshop.
(Spagna), Horsens (Danimarca) e Opole
(Polonia).
