How to reach Pavia:

(a) BY PLANE
The nearest airports are Milano Linate, Milano Malpensa, and Bergamo Orio al Serio.

MILANO LINATE: There is a daily bus service available from LINATE to PAVIA. The bus leaves in front of exit number 6. Please check the timetable at: http://www.migliavaccabus.it/images/orari%20dal%202%20maggio%202012.pdf

MILANO MALPENSA: From MILANO MALPENSA there is no bus service to PAVIA. There is, however, a daily bus service (Malpensa Shuttle), connecting Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 to Milano Central Station (Milano Stazione Centrale). From there you can take a train to Pavia (any major train with final destination Genova, Livorno, Sestri Levante, Voghera, Ventimiglia stops in Pavia; the trip lasts from 25 to 45 minutes depending on the train type). From MILANO MALPENSA you can also take the train MALPENSA EXPRESS. For information on the timetable http://www.malpensaexpress.it/orari_e_news/content.php. This train connects the international airport of Malpensa to Milan train station NORD. At NORD train station you can take the tube GREEN LINE to ABBIATEGRASSO, get off at FAMAGOSTA station and ask for the bus to Pavia (blue busses with green stripe – PMT company ) visit http://www.pmtsrl.it/Orari/Pavese/175.pdf  The ticket of PMT company MUST BE bought inside the tube station at the Newsstand opposite the coffee bar (across the glass doors). To reach the Bus stop you have to walk along the large corridor in front of the glass doors. There are three staircases on the right side and a clothes shop on the left. Go up the third staircase (the last one ) and you reach the bus stop for Pavia (Pavia Diretto tratta 175).

There is another Bus line that stops in Pavia – ARFEA company. The bus stop is the same as that of the PMT company; the bus goes to Castel San Giovanni (Piacenza) but there is a regular stop in Pavia. Tickets can be bought on board.

ORIO AL SERIO: From Orio al Serio – Bergamo, there is a bus service (running from 4am to 11pm) connecting the Airport with the Railway station in Milan. For information on the timetable and prices, visit http://www.orioshuttle.com/_eng/

(b) BY TRAIN
There is a frequent train service from Milano Centrale to Pavia. The journey takes from 25 to 45 minutes depending on the train type. Any train with final destination GENOVA, VENTIMIGLIA, SESTRI LEVANTE, LA SPEZIA, and VOGHERA will stop in Pavia. Tickets can be bought online. If you buy a ticket at the station, remember to validate it using the yellow machines.

(c) BY CAR: Pavia is in the North of Italy, in Lombardia, 38 Km away from Milan. It is on the A7 Motorway, 30 km south of Milan Ring Road (Tangenziale di Milano). The exit for Pavia is BEREGUARDO.

— From Germany and northern Europe:
BRENNERO: A22 (direction Verona) – A4 (direction Milan) – A21 (leave the motorway at BRONI STRADELLA junction). Follow the road signs to Pavia.

GOTTARDO: from the Italian border: A9 (direction Milan) – Tangenziale ovest of Milan – A7 (direction Genoa) – Leave the motorway at BEREGUARDO-PAVIA NORD junction. Follow the road signs to Pavia.

— From France, Spain and Portugal:
MONTE BIANCO: SS25 (direction Aosta) – A5 (direction Turin [Torino]) – Link motorway A4/A5 – A4 (direction Milan) – Tangenziale ovest di Milano – A7 (direction Genoa) – Leave the motorway at BEREGUARDO-PAVIA NORD junction. Follow the road signs to Pavia.

FREJUS: From the Italian border: SS335/SS24 (direction Turin [Torino])
- Tangenziale sud di Torino (direction A21) – A21 (direction Piacenza) – A7 (direction Milan) – Leave the motorway at BEREGUARDO-PAVIA NORD junction. Follow the road signs to Pavia.

VENTIMIGLIA: A10 (direction Genoa) – A25 (direction Milan) – Link motorway A25/A7 (direction Milan) – A7 (direction Milan) – Leave the motorway at BEREGUARDO-PAVIA NORD. Follow the road signs to Pavia.

— From eastern Europe:
BRENNERO (see above);
TRIESTE: From the Italian border: E70/SS202 (get to SASTIANA) – Keep E70/A4 – Pass MANERBIO – Get to BRONI-STRADELLA – Leave the motorway in order to get the SP202 and SS517. Follow the road signs to Pavia.
