Alessandro Cecchi

After the diploma in piano he graduated in Philosophy at the University of Firenze, going on to take a PhD in Musicology at the University of Pavia (2007). He has held research grants at the Universities of Pavia, Trento and Siena, for projects in the field of musicology. He has been research fellow (two years) at the University of Siena, as well as teaching Fundamentals of musical language. He has taught courses of Music history at the Tourism University “Campus Lucca”. Subsequently, he has held a research fellowship at the University of Torino in the field of the project “Cabiria” on the role of music in cinema. He is currently a scientific collaborator of the Giorgio Cini Foundation in Venice (Istituto per la Musica). His main research interests are aesthetics and music theory in the 19th, 20th and 21th centuries, the symphonies of Bruckner and Mahler, the audio-visual theory and the role of avant-garde music in the Italian industrial cinema of the 1960s.
