Worlds of AudioVision grew out of the need to define the principles and procedures of a hermeneutics of audiovisual texts. There is nothing new about the overlapping of artistic genres, but in recent decades their interaction has become of increasing importance on account of various factors: progress in electronic technologies, the incidence of audiovisual communication on daily life, experimentation in the performing arts (theatre, dance, music, cinema), the dissemination of new forms of artistic expression (videoart, installations), the proliferation of multimedia projects in popular culture, and last but not least, a comprehensive critical reflection on the status of the work of art. Initially audiovision was studied in the context of cinema, the prime electronic art which, in its evolution to date, has represented a standard point of reference. Nonetheless the progress of artistic languages, bringing about a genuine paradigm shift, suggests that an enquiry into the phenomenon can only start out from an integrated approach.

NECS 2014 - Creative Energies, Creative Industries

NECS, Network for European Cinema and Media Studies, effettuerà il suo convegno annuale sul tema “Creative Industries. Creative Energies” nel giorni 19-21 giugno 2014 presso l’Università Cattolica del S. Cuore di Milano. All’interno della rete, che raccoglie più di cinquecento studiosi europei, esiste un “Sound and Music Workgroup”, il cui General Meeting avrà luogo Giovedì 19, ore 13.45-15.30 (panel C11).

Il prossimo 25-26 giugno la School of Music della University of Liverpool ospiterà il suo primo convegno dedicato al ruolo del suono e della musica in tutti i media audiovisivi, dal film al documentario, dalla televisione ai videogame e media interattivi. Oltre alle sessioni tematiche, il convegno prevede una tavola rotonda plenarioa con la partecipazione di Nicholas Cook, Anahid Kassabian, Áine Mangaoang e John Richardson.

IMS MaM Studygroup - Dijon 2014

Dopo i convegni tenuti ad Amsterdam, Berlino, Lisbona, Torino e Ottawa, il sesto incontro del gruppo di studio “Music and Media” (MaM) dell'International Musicological Society si terrà a Digione (Université de Bourgogne) nei giorni 1-2 luglio 2014. L'incontro rappresenta uno dei più importanti appuntamenti per i musicologi che si occupano della relazione tra suono e immagine con un approccio storico o analitico.
